So, Sakhara, how are you enjoying being outside?

Sakhara is very different since she began going outside.  She is calmer, and for this very calm, grounded, Earth energy kitty, that’s an amazing thing to even imagine, much less experience.  She is also eating more comfortably – less frantically.

I asked Sakhara the other day if she was eating anything outside.  “Insects,” she told me.

“What kind?”

“Crickets.  They’re delicious.”

Sakhara is missing many teeth.  While she still has her canines (although I always think in cats they should be called “felines”), she is missing all the little ones between them and many others on the sides, both on top and on bottom of her mouth.  So while I know she can still hunt for small animals, she would not be able to chew or consume them.

In the past, on the rare occasions I would let Sakhara go outside, she’d head right for the grass and tear off pieces and swallow them.  This caused her a great deal of digestive distress because she couldn’t cut the pieces small enough or chew them at all, and she would end up feeling terrible and then vomit.  Her digestive distress would continue, and I would feel dismayed about it all.

Of course, vomiting is one way the body cleanses.  Do you know that?  Not long ago I was rereading a very old out-of-print book I have on hatha yoga.  In one chapter on cleansing, the authors talked about eating things to cause yourself to vomit as a type of purging.  Not exactly what attracts me to yoga, but interesting to know that this can be a cleansing practice.

As I observe Sakhara now, she isn’t eating grass and isn’t vomiting at all.  Of course, she might be eating grass where I can’t or don’t oberseve her, and then vomiting outside, but she says that she isn’t, and I believe her.  I’ve never known her to lie.  Also, lots of times she isn’t out there for very long, so if she did eat grass, it would still be inside her when she came in and I would know if she were vomiting in the house.

I remembered the other day that Sakhara, who is a rather reticent personality, had told someone in one of the TWA classes that her job is to patrol around the house outside and protect the property.  Now, I wonder whether, by keeping her inside all the time, her level of frustration and stress at not being able to do her job contributed to her being sick.

I don’t feel as though I want to ask her about it.  I just want to hold this notion in my mind for awhile and feel the resonance of its energy.  Some emotions can make us physically ill and others can heal us.  Being continuously kept from your life purpose/job could have a very deleterious effect on anyone.  So many subtle energies and experiences can influence our overall state of well-being.

So I continue to watch and observe Sakhara as she explores outside.  She headed off across the street yesterday with Hattie (the mostly feral resident of my yard) accompanying her.  I was outside at the time watering my small vegetable and herb garden.   I had to hold myself back from interfering.  She was gone quite a while and Violet had to be comforted.  But she came back just fine, feeling really good and a bit tired.  More lessons for me.

A Lesson in Trust from Sakhara

I’m the one having the lesson.

What do you do when one of your animals is sick (very out of balance) and she tells you she must go outside into nature to heal?

Sakhara enjoying the outdoors.

Sakhara enjoying the outdoors.

That’s the question I faced last weekend when Sakhara announced that her chronic digestive problems (unofficially not diagnosed as pancreatitis) will only be fully healed if she spends time in nature.

Being close to the earth is healing for animals – and for us as well.  Getting to touch the actual earth with your feet – feeling the energies of the Earth – the wind in your fur (hair and on your skin) – smelling the woods – the leaves rotting in the fall, the flowers of spring and summer – it’s a sensory fiesta!!!

Keeping cats inside puts them into a totally artificial environment which lacks mental and emotional stimulation, as well as appropriate motivations for exercise, excitement, and joy.   Cats are literally built to hunt.  Inside a human dwelling the occasional bug or mouse might show up, but can YOU imagine NEVER leaving your home for your entire life?????

Of course, you can’t.

You would think it a prison.

And you would be right.

By definition, keeping cats inside creates hazards that we humans don’t acknowledge for the most part.  Cats can’t possibly live as healthy or interesting a life when restricted to a house or apartment.  Their entire sensory system responds to smells and movements, and being indoors all the time is BOOOOOORING.

They get less exercise, too.  If that’s bad for humans, it’s also bad for animals.  There is just no substitute for the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of nature – the wind in your fur, the smells of each season, the scents of other animals, the trees to climb, the birds to watch (and to catch, and to eat).

Yes, catching and eating food.  What wild cat have you ever seen building a fire and roasting their food before eating it?  Raw and freshly caught (or slightly aged) is what cats love to eat – are designed to eat – need to eat to have healthy digestive systems and bodies.

“OK,”  you may be saying, “but what about predators that eat cats?”

“Trust me,” said Sakhara.  “Trust that this is what is best for me to do.  I won’t put myself into danger.  I know I’m not fit – that you cut my nails – that I need to stay fairly near the house.  I’m not trying to get myself injured or killed.  I just need to be on the Earth – to fully feel the energies of the Earth.  Trust that this is best for me.”

So I’ve taken the leap of faith and I’m allowing Sakhara to spend part of each day outside.  She seems better – MUCH better.  She comes in after a short time and sleeps deeply, more at peace.  She seems happier, too.

Violet worries about her.  So do I.  Violet doesn’t want to go out.  She wasn’t introduced to the outside world as a kitten.  Sakhara was an indoor/outdoor cat for the first 12-18 months of her life.  Sakhara is wise about surviving outside.  Violet has been the over-protected, pampered Siamese.  I’m regretting now that I have kept her in.  I debated and debated this in my head over the years, but it just doesn’t seem normal or healthy to me for a cat to live in an artificial environment.

So Violet and I are learning that Sakhara knows what she needs.  We are learning to trust.  And Sakhara is thriving.  I started writing this blog when I began my vacation, and now, over a week later, I see a much healthier cat when I observe Sakhara.

It’s important that we listen to what our animals tell us they need.  Big lesson for me at so many levels.

Namaste,
Nedda

p.s.  I’ve stopped cuttin her nails.  This way, she is armed and can climb more easily and safely if she needs to.

A Harmony Tower Arrives

When my friend of 30 years, Peg Papanek, learned how to build her own spiritual energy generator just over a year ago, I couldn’t believe the changes that occurred in the energy of her property.  It was like stepping out of the 3rd dimension and arriving in the 6th dimension.

What an amazing experience, to feel this shift and to see how the clouds, the weather, the air quality, and the land itself transformed.  Because I can feel energies easily, I sensed the change immediately.  I would arrive at her home for a massage or cranial sacral session and be transported to an entirely different dimensional space.

I instantly wanted one, but Peg wasn’t ready quite yet to build them for others last year.  In fact, she imagined teaching a workshop in which participants would create their own tower.  Peg never did offer her workshop, and I kept imagining that I would someday have one for my yard.

About 2 weeks ago, Peg told me that she and her sister, Andrea, were going to start a business building what they call Harmony Towers.  Before I headed for home that day I made the commitment to have one asap.

Sunday, August 1, Peg and Andrea arrived at my home with my Harmony Tower.

Nedda's Harmony Tower

Nedda's Harmony Tower

Harmony Towers are built in the precise arrangement of the Golden Flower of Life, which is a sacred geometric pattern that is the bases for all life in this Universe.  The pipes are copper, and there are numerous crystals inside the tower that have been cleansed, energized, and programmed.

Golden Flower of Life

Each Harmony Tower is different, because Peg and Andrea work from Spirit each step of the way.  Each tower is built for a specific person and location and energetically aligned to serve humanity and planet Earth at this critical time in our transition back to full consciousness of our Divinity.

The towers choose where in your yard they want to stand.  My tower chose to be next to a large stone that marks the burial spot of Violet’s body from her most recent previous lifetime.  In addition, the tower chose to be just slightly under the young maple tree you see behind it, and inside the base of a triangle of trees in the yard.

My tower’s energy is very yin (female energy).   She radiates peace, joy, and love, along with a gentle nurturance.  It seems as though her energies are just beginning to build and spread out across the area.  I sense them going at least 100-150 miles away, so far, as they feel as though they are continuing to build.

Harmony Tower and Maple TreeHarmony towers connect deeply with Mother Earth and help to stabilize the energy grids that are inside the planet.  My tower has created a gentle yet strong sense of serenity.  (No, it’s not just that I’m on vacation as I write this.  It’s the tower!)  The Overlighting Deva of my yard is ecstatic, and all the Nature Spirits and Elementals have been dancing for joy since the tower arrived.  It does feel as though some very high purpose is being fulfilled now that the tower is here and settling in (energetically speaking).

The website for Harmony Towers will be set up very soon, and I’ll let you all know how to find it when it’s ready.  So stay tuned to this website for more information.

Sakhara says of the Harmony Tower:

“The energy this Tower radiates has healing properties – for animals, for people, and for the Earth.  It is bringing us the energy of the Divine Mother in a nearly tangible form.  We are very blessed to be the keepers of this tower.”

Exploring Svaroopa® Yoga

The Dancing Shiva.

As a vacation treat, I visited two of my clients yesterday, Phil Milgrom and Nancy Nowak, who live in Warren, Massachusetts, a tiny village in the western part of that state.  Phil and Nancy are yoga instructors for Svaroopa® Yoga, which I had never experienced.  Their yoga center is called “The Centered Place” and this is a very appropriate name for it.  As soon as I walked inside, I felt more centered and grounded.

Since I love doing yoga and have been seeking to expand my yoga experience, I had signed up for a private session with Phil.  Even though I had already done some yoga that morning (my body really likes this practice), Phil and I spent 2 hours together in the studio.  He explained the principles of Svaroopa® and then showed me with gentle care how to do some very simple yet profound and precise postures.

Svaroopa® Yoga is unlike any yoga I have ever experienced.  It is based on the idea that, if gently asked, the muscles of the body will let go of tension and expand, creating more space within you.   All of the asanas seem to be variations on asking the body to relax and let go.  And my body responded.

Since I am very sensitive and can feel many things in my body that most other people can’t feel, I was able to notice very tiny shifts taking place.  I can sense areas where my body feels stuck.  As we did the asanas, I could feel those area begin to think about opening and, in some cases, actually start to open .

For me, this has been a completely new experience.  In only two days of practice of just a few postures, my body is already changing.  I can feel it releasing and shifting.  It seems to be growing larger in energy.  When we make space inside us, of course that space will be filled naturally.  And what we naturally fill ourselves with is Consciousness.

So Svaroopa® Yoga can be very helpful to anyone who wants to get rid of physical tension, feel healthier, make more space inside themselves for spiritual development, and just R-E-L-A-X and enjoy each day.

Namaste,
Nedda

MESSAGES FROM INSECTS CONFIRMED

“We are not ‘pests.’  We are here in service.”

flea

Some of you may have noticed that in families where there are several dogs or cats, only one may have a serious flea problem while the others are fine.   This mystery has led some people and veterinarians to hypothesize that it has to do with what the animals are eating or with different dna or with some unknown factor.

A number of years ago, an Animal Communicator colleague talked to fleas about why they bite people and animals.   She shared the information that she received in an egroup I belonged to at the time.  According to her conversation with fleas, they bite very specific points of the body to help restore balance.  In other words, if there are meridians that are jammed or acupuncture points that need clearing, that’s where they bite.  This causes the human or animal to scratch the bite, thus bringing attention to the area and hopefully, release of the energy jams.

When Violet was here in her lifetime just prior to this one she used to bring a toy to me in the middle of the night while I was asleep.  Being a night kitty, she wanted to play.  I would become partially conscious when she jumped onto the bed, feel for the toy, and throw it.  After a few times  of retrieving it, she’d settle down to sleep and so would I.

One night, as I felt for the toy, my hand touched something small and warm and limp.  I jumped up and turned on the light.  There on the bed was a dead mouse.  Of course, I praised Violet to the skies for being a good hunter, but told her I wasn’t going to throw the mouse for her to play with.

When I got up the next morning, I discovered that I had some flea bites on me.  The mouse must have had fleas.  Violet had no bites, but I had several, and all on just one side of my body in areas that I knew were weak spots.

mosquito

My friend, Jo, recently asked me how to deal with insects attacks on her body.  I told her to explore these 3 approaches:

  1. The insects may be giving her a message about areas in her body that are out of balance.
  2. Green Hope Farm has a flower essence formula called “Watch Your Back” to be used whenever you feel under attack – not just from insects, but in general.
  3. Using intention, one can decide to put out “tree energy” or “rock energy” to confuse the insects so they leave you alone.

Yesterday Jo sent me this email, confirming the idea that insects are gifting us by showing us where we need help:

Thought you  would find this interesting. I had a biofeedback session today, and shared your theory on insect attacks with the therapist. When she focussed on the point where the latest attack was, it indicated that it was for tinnitus. Which I have horrible problems with. When she went to clear that area, the system alarmed, which means that there is a obstruction that if doesn’t clear will be of a significant drain on the body. It finally did clear.

When she did the point where the previous attack was a few weeks ago, that alarmed as well and indicated a compromised immune system, which I have. It alarmed again, but finally cleared. Both areas were severely red after the rounds of biofeedback.

To add to what you shared with me, she began to explain that everything has energy, and that insects can detect what area are out of frequency or out of balance. That would be where they usually “attack”. I found this quite fascinating and wanted to share with you.

Best,
Jo

The idea of using intention to tell insects you are a tree had this effect one day when I was washing some windows outside.

As I was washing the windows, along came a swarm of gnats swirling in the air.  Maybe you’ve seen them do that.  They don’t really bite, but can get into your nose, ears, and eyes, and even your mouth.  I kept saying to myself, “I’m a tree.  I’m a tree.” but the gnats didn’t seem to get it.  Finally, I spoke out loud to them.

“Hey fellas, you must be confused.  I’m a tree,” I said.  “Oh, OK.”  they responded, and left immediately.

Maybe it’s time for us to honor and be grateful to all the insects of Planet Earth, and to treat them all with more respect and appreciation.

Namaste,
Nedda
