To Blog or Not to Blog, that seems to be the question

I guess I’m not much of a blogger.  I attempted to start a blog 2 years ago, but I didn’t do much with it.  I’m rather a personal person, although I don’t think of myself that way.  I don’t like to reveal much about myself, I guess, except in very specific situations.  And I sure don’t find writing easy.  It took me years and years of very hard work in college to learn to write essays, and I probably haven’t developed much of a creative style – certainly not for prose or poetry.

So what am I doing trying to have a blog?  Beats me!  Yet many, many people seem to think that blogs are interesting or important or, maybe, just a pastime?

I have a dear friend, Karen Nowak, whose site is linked to this blog, who has decided that she is going to blog and has been making quite a start of it.  She invited all the people on her mailing list to visit her blog, and people are finding it interesting and touching and all those good things.

Karen moved to Montana about 3 years ago, so she is still in awe of the beauty of the place and has daily new experiences that bring her joy and excitement to share.  She has a camera and takes terrific photos of amazing scenery that she sees every day, yet is never bored with.  In contrast, I’m kind of a home body, still living in the same place 20 years later and totally happy to be here.  My daily experiences – in terms of every day living – are quite ordinary.   Who wants to read something ordinary?  Aren’t our lives full to overflowing with all the daily stuff we HAVE to do and MUST get done?  I don’t want blogging to be just another chore I have to do.  I want to find a way to make it exciting. . . or at least make people think. . . or not do it at all.

So, Universe, if blogging is what I am meant to be doing right now, please provide food for the “thought banquet.”  We do want plenty of flavors to sample – exotic – some, and comforting at times, and also delicious for all our senses and stimulating for our thoughts.  Dreary – NEVER!

I expect the Universe will provide.

    Hi, Paulinka,

Thanks for your comment and your insights. You are so right – we never really know what we will connect with and what we can help others in terms of gaining insight or understanding or support for whatever they have going on that day. That kind of thinking makes me feel that my blog might be worthwhile.

    Hi Nedda,
i have never blogged before either, yet i like writing and yes, for me it is personal too. i need to know who i am talking to, can’t just talk to anybody in general. here is my response about blogging. This could be a meeting of the minds and souls and could be a very spiritual and inspirational thing !! You know so much and can share so much, it can be a very in the moment thing. it can just make you want to be a little bit more aware about what’s happening around you and what it means to you. For example, someone was talking about how excited he was that Obama got elected. Now, i am neither for or against him, but the angle was so interesting. He said, that because of his past life as a slave owner, he was really thrilled with how far american people have come with the issue of integration. At that moment, I realized about myself that because of one past life in which I had been made to marry some guy, I have come back as a woman since and am interested in women’s rights !! You just never know where things come from until they happen. Wait for the magic to happen ! You just never know . . .
