A Basic Principle of Healing: “First, Do No Harm.”

Hippocates

Greek physician Hippocrates (460 BC – 370 BC) author of the Hippocratic Oath for Doctors.*

The Greek healer, Hippocrates, set the first standards for medicine in the form of the Hippocratic Oath.

A basic principle of that oath was

“First do no harm.”

This ethic is meant to be the guide for whatever intervention a physician or healer uses to assist a patient to heal because …

the actual healing itself is done by the body.

For example, you accidentally cut your finger.  You may clean the wound and put an antiseptic on it, followed by a bandaid.

None of these things actually cause the cut to heal.  That work is done by the physical body itself.

  • Cleaning the wound and using an antiseptic remove bodies that may interfere with the physical body’s ability to repair the cut.
  • A bandaid, or bandage, assists by keeping the cut clean, and may hold the two sides of the cut together, thus making it easier for the body to reconnect the tissues as it repairs the wound.

This is similar to how Energy Healing helps you recover from an illness or an injury.

In Energy Healing, the facilitator’s (healer’s) primary responsibility is to support the body’s natural healing processes.

This is done in a number of ways.

  1. Removing energy blocks that may interfere in the healing process.
  2. Supporting the body energetically so that it has the energy it needs to do the repair work.
  3. Communicating clear intentions to the body so it understands the expectations and goals of the person whose body it is.
  4. Assisting the body to let go of energy patterns that are interfering with the healing process, such as trapped emotions, limiting beliefs, and distorted vibrational patterns.

A healing facilitator communicates with expert energy healers in higher realms who may be able to see or perceive subtle aspects of damage that are outside the third dimensional reality.

Full recovery may require that those damaged area be repaired as well.

A well-known example of this type of situation would be a damaged chakra.

A chakra is a spinning wheel of energy. The most well known chakras are along the spinal column.

There are also many chakras of varying sizes throughout the physical and other energy bodies.  Some chakras are part if the meridian system used in acupuncture and are called “acupuncture points.”

When a chakra is damaged or functioning improperly, a complete healing outcome may be compromised.

Each chakra may be a slightly different size, color and complexity, depending on where it is located in the body and the services it performs.

Chakras are a basic part of the energy anatomy of all conscious beings.

Humans and animals have chakras, and so do plants.

Mother Earth has chakras as well.

Within the physical body of a human or animal, the various organs and glands have chakras specifically designed to keep each one in balance and harmony by providing essential “life force” to that part of the anatomy.

When my cat Violet was diagnosed with early stage renal (kidney) failure, I discovered that one of her kidneys had a chakra that was misaligned and wasn’t able to function properly as a result.

By repairing Violet’s kidney chakra with energy healing, I assisted her kidney to function better.  Using muscle testing, I was able to increase the energetic ability of the kidney to function by more than 50%.

This contributed to Violet feeling more comfortable in her body for a longer time than she might have otherwise.

In all types of energy healing, “First, do no harm” remains an essential ethical principle.

Self-Love: How do I love me?

Learning to love myself … seemed like a strange thing to do, at first.  Then I discovered that the old saying is true:

You can’t really love

someone else if you don’t

love yourself.

If my pot of love is empty, I have no love to offer another.

If my pot of love is partially filled, then giving away what’s there leaves me empty, exhausted, unsatisfied, and resentful, and feeling unloved.

If my pot of love is full to overflowing, I can generously give love to others.

For me to love me means I must fill my pot of love to overflowing.  Then I have plenty of love to share with others.

My pot of love.

If I rely on others to fill me up, I’m behaving irresponsibly.  I’m giving away my personal power by failing to acknowledge my own ability to take care of myself, as well as my worthiness to be loved.

When I say, “myself,” I’m not speaking of my “small self” or ego.

I’m speaking of my Divine Self, my I Am Presence.  I no longer see myself as small, helpless, and lacking in value.

I AM the Divine, and I have the POWER to fill myself up with Divine Love.

In this way, I acknowledge my ability to fill my pot of love to overflowing with the abundance of the Divine Love that flows infinitely from Source.

I have the power to fill myself up with love on a regular basis.

So …

How do I love me?

By resting when I need to rest.  By sleeping when I need to sleep.  By eating when I’m hungry, and eating what my body wants and finds nourishing.  This includes chocolate, by the way.  Chocolate is a “food group.”

How do I love me?

I fill myself by staying away from people who insist on being negative about everything, who focus on what’s wrong with everything, and who choose to see disaster everywhere.

By avoiding movies, stories, TV, news, and other things that are all about violence, abuse, and mistreatment of others when I myself am feeling vulnerable.  I already know that the 3-D world is filled with horror.  I don’t need it in my face as a daily serving of malnourishment.

I fill myself by training myself to shift to a positive focus regardless of the situation, to find the gifts and gold nuggets waiting for me everywhere, and to not allow energy vampires to feed on me.

Negativity is draining.

Positivity is filling.

I envison a world I am choosing to live in, one where love, harmony, compassion, tenderness, kindness, generosity, forgiveness, and mental/emotional sanity prevail.

How do I love me?

I speak kindly to myself.  I eliminate negative statements that are habits of thought.  “That was stupid.”  “What a dumb thing to do.  You’ve made a mess again!.”  These types of statements have no place in self-love.

How do I love me?

I tell myself the truth, even when I don’t like the truth.  No more secrets from myself.  No more lies to myself.  This is authenticity, and anything less creates holes in my pot of love allowing the love energy to drain out.

How do I love me?

I tell myself that, wherever I am, it’s the perfect place for me to be in this “now” moment.

Even tho’ my ego, my small self, may not know why I am where I am, my Soul knows.

That means there is more than one benefit to my being wherever it is.

So I seek the lesson instead of wasting energy in resistance or trying to run away.

This moves me through things faster and with less discomfort.  I focus on moving through the turn at the bottom of the curve and see myself emerging up the other side.

It’s like riding a horse.  If you look at the ground, that’s where you land.  If you look ahead, the horse and you fly smoothly forward to where you put your focus.

How do I love me?

I allow myself to be “wrong,” to make mistakes, and to know that I’m still learning, and that learning requires making mistakes.

When I am “wrong” about something, I admit it freely without guilt or recrimination.

How do I love me?

When I go into fear or anxiety, I wrap my arms around my inner child and comfort her with Divine Love.  Her fear and anxiety quickly begin to subside.  Then I get up and move around and do something, anything, to get my body moving.

I also have learned to use flower essences, supplements, and homeopathic remedies to help shift me out of dense emotional patterns.

How do I love me?

By giving to others what I truly have to offer, but only if those others truly want it in the moment I am able and willing to give it.

If someone wants something of me that I don’t have the energy or desire to give to them, I respect myself and them by saying. “No.  I’m not willing to do that.”

Anything else is inauthentic, and unloving to myself, and to them.

Have you checked in on your Pot O’ Love lately?  It it filled to overflowing?

How to Make Affirmations More Effective.

Seeing our reflecting brings up beliefs about ourself.

When you SUCCESSFULLY

replace negative self-talk with

POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS,

your life shifts.

The challenge is to actually make it happen.

Many negative beliefs you have about yourself get established in childhood.

  • They become deeply embedded in your psyche, emotions, and even in  your physical body.

  • They become tightly woven into your overall belief system and emotional fabric.

  • They affect how you see and feel about yourself, the world, and your relationships with others.

  • They hold you back from experiencing love, joy, and bliss.

  • They directly affect your ability to be successful in all areas of life.

Positive statements that contradict your current beliefs do not easily replace negative self-talk that has been with you for a lifetime or more.

Some negative statements may be easily replace by positive ones, but more often than not, you may find yourself struggling to transform the old self-talk into consistently optimistic, creative, positive thinking and talking patterns.

What to do?

Are you going to be stuck forever in negativity?

NO!

You CAN make the changes you desire.

You CAN make these changes permanent.

GETTING STARTED

  • Start by identifying your negative thoughts and the feelings that surround them.

    • Make a list of whatever comes to mind.  You probably already know what many of them are because they zip through your mind.  All you need do is start paying attention.

  • Make 2 columns on each page of a notebook or journal and write the list of negative thoughts in the left-hand column.

    • Leave enough space between them so that you have room in the right-hand column to write a positive message to replace each negative one.

The next step may require some assistance, but you can probably get started on your own.

  • Start writing positive statements in the right hand column for each negative message.

    • Try different wording until the new statement feels very positive, even if it’s a bit uncomfortable to imagine yourself actually believing it.

You have to get a little ways into your discomfort zone to know that the message is truly positive enough.

INITIATING TRANSFORMATION

Now comes the challenge of removing the negative belief or message and replacing it with the positive one.

One way to approach this is to work with a professional, such as myself.

Using special energetic techniques, the negative message and the emotional debris that holds it in place can be energetically removed from your body.

Then, using related techniques, a positive message can be embedded as a replacement.

By using these techniques, your subconscious will be more likely to accept the new positive messages as “true” instead of rejecting them as false because they contradict some deeply held core belief.

By communicating with your subconscious through muscle testing, I can identify which new messages are acceptable to your subconscious and which ones are being rejected.

In the same way, I can identify emotional blocks to accepting the new belief.

Then using other techniques I can remove whatever is blocking the new belief.

Of course, there are no “quick fixes.”

Several layers may have to be addressed to finally make it possible for a new, positive belief to be planted, nourished, and take root.

A SECOND APPROACH

Another approach is to place a new positive message everywhere in all aspects of your being.  If you decide to use this method, do only 1 positive message at a time.

In a self-guided meditation, you can place it in all your chakras, organs, glands, joints, bones, muscles, and so on.

  • Ask your I Am Presence to assist you.

  • As you focus on each location in your bodies, say the positive message 3 times as you hold the intention of placing it in that spot.

  • You can even do this at the cellular and DNA levels, so use your imagination and go as deeply as you are guided to go.

  • After you have completed this process, place the affirmation in various locations around your home so your subconscious sees and reads it frequently.

    • A favorite spot for me is the bathroom wall, as positive affirmations make great reading material.  The more you read it, the more your subconscious is reminded of the new message.

The main limitation with this approach is that it doesn’t remove the negative message.  It simply places the new one everywhere inside you.

Furthermore, this approach takes longer to embed a new positive belief than the one first described.

Still, once you’ve used it on a particular message, you may find that a positive affirmation you were having trouble embedding has actually begun to take hold.

. . .  AND FINALLY

Transformation IS possible.

If you feel stuck, you can be helped to get unstuck.

If you feel like giving up, you can be helped to find the courage and strength to continue on your path.

If you feel overwhelmed, you can be helped to restore your balance so you can take the next steps towards your goals.

If you choose to get rid of negative self-talk, you can be helped to do it!

What Makes an Energy Healer Powerful?

The quality of  her consciousness.

Spirit of Life

A healer is powerful when he or she:

  • Is a clear open channel for healing energies.
  • Has clearly focused intention.
  • Is grounded.
  • Is open to infinite possibilities.
  • Is heart-centered.
  • Is filled with integrity.

Let’s explore these qualities together.

  • A powerful healer is a clear open channel for healing energies.

To be a “clear open channel” requires that a healer continually works on herself to raise her consciousness and maintain her openness to receive and work with the highest frequencies possible.

This means that the person is committed to her own spiritual path and to their service as a healer.  Working on oneself includes, but is not limited to these activities.

  1. Eliminates limited thinking and beliefs that can interfere with bringing through healing energies.
  2. Knows how to manage her own emotions so that they don’t get “dumped” onto the one receiving the healing.
  3. Clears one’s own channels daily so that more energy and a wider variety of frequencies can be channeled for purposes of healing.
  4. Begins each session with a prayer asking to be a “clear channel” and ends each session by clearing herself, the healing space, and everyone in that space.
  • A powerful healer has clearly focused intention.

For a healer, a clear, focused intention requires three things:

  1. Knowing what your own intentions are as a healer.
  2. Asking the one receiving the healing to tell you their intentions
  3. Making sure that your intentions and your client’s intentions are aligned.

Image of hand receiving light.

Aligning your intention as a healer with the intention of your client is very important because:

  • Putting your own intentions over those of the one receiving the healing violates higher law and creates karma for the healer.
  • Setting intentions that do not align with the life path and higher purpose of the one receiving the healing can cause problems for that being down the road.
  • Muddled intention leads to muddled results.

  • A powerful healer is grounded.

To heal, you must be grounded, meaning that your consciousness must be present in all parts of your own physical body and connected to the Earth!

The root chakra is actually IN the Earth.

The Root Chakra connects us energetically to the Earth.

  • A healer cannot heal issues in the lower parts of their own body unless she is willing to be fully present with therein.
  • To fully experience your life path, you have to be fully in all your energy bodies.
  • A powerful healer is grounded so she can assist her clients to also become grounded.
  • A powerful healer is Open to Infinite Possibilities.

Being open to infinite possibilities opens the door for miracles.

milkyway galazy

The Universe contains infinite stars. Created in the Divine Image, you and I are the expression of infinite possibilities.

By setting that intention, the healer gets him/herself out of the way so that healing can happen.

  • A powerful healer is heart centered.

heart magnetic field 2 humans

The size of your heart’s magnetic field is so enormous that you affect everyone with whom you come into contact.

Being consciously heart centered means you are more likely to offer Divine Love and Compassion to your clients, and that is the basis for powerful healing.

  • A powerful healer is filled with integrity.

buddha4

“Integrity” means having coherence within yourself because all your “parts” are fully integrated.

“Integrity” means that you say what you mean, mean what you say, and follow through with your commitments.

“Integrity” means telling yourself the truth about yourself.  “To thine own self be true.”  Only when you do that, can you be honest with others.

“Integrity” is necessary for trust.  If you have integrity, all parts of you trust yourself, and others can trust you, too.  To be a powerful healer, you must be trustworthy.

How to decide if a healer is the best match for you.

When seeking an energy healer, you can determine to what degree someone meets these criteria by asking your body to help you sense or feel whether the person is a good match for you, your animal, or another family member.

  • You can use muscle testing, a pendulum, or just tune into your own body.
  • Think of the healer you are considering contacting.
  • Go through the list of characteristics and ask, in each case, to what degree you feel this person meets the criteria.

This will help you choose the best possible person to assist you.

Happy New Year to Me.

Each birthday begins a new year of you life.

Happy Birthday is also Happy New Year.Celebrate that new year!

So today is actually my birthday, and I’m celebrating it as a personal start of a new year.

This year I feel drawn to open to new possibilities and new ways of being.

I’ve been guided to understand this morning that birthdays represent pivotal points in our lives.   If we treat them as such, and ask to understand their meaning, we’ll be shown the significance of each year as it arrives.

So this morning, I asked for guidance and was told:

You’re being prepared for new service, a new role.  Today marks the turning point towards that new focus.

Then I went to the Healing Earth Tarot and asked, “What does this year represent for me?”

SHAMAN – Crown Chakra

Red Tailed HawkRed Tailed Hawk –
A Shaman’s Guide

The Shaman brings together the world of density (Earth) with the world of lesser density (Spirit).  She stands between them, following her inner knowing as she aligns with Divine Will.

She has the ability to stand in her own knowing with great strength of purpose and focus as she teaches others to do the same.

I’ve never thought of myself as a Shaman.  I’ve never trained with anyone to become a Shaman.  So this card is quite a surprise to me.

NEXT QUESTION:  Today – in this now moment – what focus would best serve me?

3 of Crystals – Power Center and Mental Body

This card is about saying goodbye to an old way of being, fully feeling the sadness and loss as you move into something new.

This  helped me understand why I’ve been feeling so sad for the last 24 hours.

The cards also advises not to run from the grief.  We have to let go and make space for the new, and that frequently brings up feelings of loss and sadness.  When we fully feel those feelings, we can let go of them, accelerating the arrive of the gifts the universe is sending.
