Tarot Message to Brighten My Day

Message to Myself

I have a beautiful tarot deck that I purchased many years ago.  It’s called The Healing Earth Tarot, by Joyti and David McKie.  I didn’t know anything about tarot cards at the time, but I was very drawn to the image on the front of the box.

I loved looking at the all the artwork on the cards, but I was very unsure about how to get started with tarot.  So I bought some books about tarot in general, and what I discovered really surprised me.

Most tarot decks have 4 suits and what is called the Major Arcana.  The Healing Earth Tarot has 6 suits and the Major Arcana.  So when I read books about tarot, they didn’t seem to be very helpful at understanding a 6-suit deck.

Then it occurred to me that the descriptions of the 4 suits in an old fashioned tarot deck sound a great deal like the first 4 chakras of the human energy body.  The Major Arcana sounds very like the crown chakra with messages coming from your higher self.

So I took a closer look at the Healing Earth Tarot suits.  That’s when I noticed that the additional 2 suits could be related to the Throat and 3rd Eye chakras, while the other 4 suits aligned with the first 4 chakras, as in the older decks.

Finding the correspondence between the suits and the major chakras of the body helped me understand more deeply the messages I was receiving when I used this insightful and artistically beautiful tarot deck.

Once I had a pattern that made sense to me, using this tarot deck took on deeper meaning, as I could connect with the appropriate chakras and ask for more information.  I learned first hand that tarot works by connecting the energy of the person having the reading with the cards.  You have to “clear the deck” between readings to eliminate old energy that no longer applies.

Just this morning, feeling a bit “out of sorts” emotionally after listening to the ice floes on my roof crack and groan all night as temperatures sank to minus 12 degrees fahrenheit, I decided to choose a Tarot card for the day.

I cleared the deck and then held it gently to energize it.

I pulled a card.

I was astonished to see that I had pulled The Sun card from the Major Arcana.  The message of this card was uplifting and inspiring, and came from my own I Am Presence.

A New Day Dawns Bringing Rebirth and Renewal!

This image is not from the tarot deck, out of respect for the creators of the deck. But it does express some of the JOY that the tarot card represents.  The card and it’s message shifted me into a place of anticipation and well-being.  I’m so glad I followed my guidance to use these cards today.

What Stage of Growth Are You In?

Grandmother of Pipes

Great Grandfather Sycamore - A Wise and Ancient Tree

My favorite tarot deck is called The Healing Earth Tarot, created by Joyti.

This morning I pulled a card asking what this time is about for me.  The card is called Grandmother of Pipes.

Grandmother of Pipes is a nature spirit of the woodlands.  Her skin looks like the bark of a tree; her hair is green and full of leaves; she has a knarled appearance and her nose looks like a spot on a tree where a branch used to grow.   She sits resting in the arms of a tree, and speaks the wisdom of the wise and old tree spirits.  She holds a wooden musical pipe from which energy and music flow.  Her message?

“Think of yourself as a plant.  Are you a seed? Have you started growing roots yet?  A stem?  Have you pushed out into the Light yet?  Are you about to grow leaves?  Perhaps you are already budding?  Are your flowers about to open?”

When I spoke directly to the Grandmother, she told me that I’m about to flower, and so is my service to humanity and the Earth.  This was comforting news.

She asked me these questions:

  • Am I focused on nurturing myself or am I allowing myself to be distracted by the outer world?
  • What am I doing to protect myself?
  • What am I doing to assist myself as I enter this stage?

These were questions I had not considered.

So I make these suggestion to you.  Ask yourself, as if you were a plant:

  • What stage of growth are you in?
  • What would be most supportive and nurturing for you at this time?
  • What do you need to do to protect yourself as you enter and move through this new stage?

Gratitude and appreciation to you, Grandmother of Pipes, and also to Joyti for creating this powerful and healing tarot system.

Namaste,
Nedda
